What is your COVID 19 cancellation policy?
If you have to cancel your booking due to any of your team showing Coronavirus symptoms we ask that you contact us as soon as possible. The same applies if you can no longer play in your team as you are from a high level risk area. In either of these instances we hope you will simply reschedule your booking with us to a future date. Alternatively we will offer a full refund.
Is the game for all ages?
Players under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. We have found that children under the age of 12 can struggle with some of the puzzles. Unfortunately we cannot take children's parties of any kind because of this reason. Our aim is for all players to be engaged and enjoy their experience.
Will I be locked in a room?
For health and safety and fire regulations you are not locked in at our escape rooms. Teams are watched for the full hour on CCTV which is not recorded due to data protection.
What are puzzle chests, exactly?
Our Pieces of Eight pirate chest game is played at the captain's table in our pirate tavern. The game is linear in its design. There are three pirate chests to open and solve all the puzzles inside. It is unlike a normal escape room where you explore different rooms to escape. However with our puzzle chests you can enjoy beverages as you play. The pirate tavern is located in our 14th century building, with real wood beams, fireplace, candles and music. It's a stunning setting, which your team will have exclusively to yourselves.
Is the game scary?
Spectre is not a horror room. There are no real actors in the room with your team and it is not played in the dark. The storyline of Spectre is a little 'dark' and there are sound effects and smoke that add to the experience. Some small children may find the effects a little disturbing (normally ages 11 and below). If you would like us to dial back of the effects, just let us know in advance of your booking.
Do you offer any discounts?
We are pleased to offer discounts to students as well as anyone working for the NHS, the military, police and fire service. Contact us for the codes to get your discount.
What if I want to bring more people than 6 people to play?
At present, we are adhering by the rule of six as per government guidelines. In Spectre we can accommodate up to 8 people with additional puzzles so everyone is occupied at all times. We will contact you to check you wish to have the extras. Alternatively, we can split your group into more manageable teams. The first team can play and then watch the next team 'behind the scenes' with us in the control room viewing area. It's hilarious to watch your friends, family or colleagues go through the escape room and it always gets competitive. This set up is perfect for birthday celebrations, hen parties, family get togethers and team building. We can bring the timings closer together on the day too.
I am pregnant - can I play?
Of course! We've had lots of ladies to play who are expecting (at all stages of pregnancy). In Spectre, we do use smoke machines. They use Glycerin, which is harmless to you and your baby. As with all of our special effects, you can always ask us to not use them. Just drop us an email.
Can I bring more or less players on the day?
The price you pay is per person. If you wish to bring more people than you specified in your booking please contact us 24 hours in advance.
Will I have to play with strangers?
No, just your fellow team mates you bring along with you.
What should I bring?
Nothing apart from your brain and some competitive spirit.
What is the optimal team size?
Because of the nature of escape rooms, the more brains you have to solve the puzzles, the greater your chances of escape. We would recommend three or more people, but two can also work. For our Pieces of Eight table top game we recommend 4 people.
Do you have disabled access?
Spectre is unfortunately on the first floor. When POD and Compendium open on the ground floor we will hopefully be making them wheelchair accessible.
I have claustrophobia – should I play?
You are never truly ‘locked’ in. The rooms are quite large but do contact us if you have any concerns.
How much time will we need to play?
Spectre lasts 60 minutes. Please arrive exactly at your allotted time.
Is the escape room good for celebrations?
We are delighted to host hen and stag parties, birthday celebrations, anniversaries and team building days. Do get in touch with us in advance if you're celebrating an occasion as we will make it extra special with a gift or special discount where applicable.
Still have questions?
Contact us with any questions you may have, we're very accommodating.
